Registration of Emergency Medical Personnel
 
 

The Interim Council appointed by the Honourable Minister of Health pursuant to the Emergency Ambulance Services and Emergency Medical Personnel Act, Chapter 29:02, introduces itself to all Emergency Medical Personnel in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

The Interim Council’s first statutory mandate shall be to register all Emergency Medical Personnel as required by Section 41(4) of the Act.

 

Please note that Emergency Medical Personnel includes all:

a. Emergency Medical Technicians - Basic
b. Emergency Medical Technicians - Intermediate
c. Emergency Medical Technicians - A or Paramedic
d. Emergency Medical Technicians - Tutor;

as defined by their respective Scopes of Practice under the Schedule 5 of the Act, which Act is linked on the Interim Council’s webpage.

 

Please note that to satisfy registration as an Emergency Medical Technician you must possess and provide evidence of the following:

a. Qualification from an institution registered or accredited with the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago;
b. Qualification from an institution approved by the National Training Agency; or
c. Any equivalent qualification from an institution, which meets the satisfaction of the Interim Council.

 

Please also note that your registration shall be provisional and ultimately subject to decision of the Council of the Emergency Medical Personnel Board to be appointed under Section 40 of the Act.

 

Notwithstanding, your provisional registration as an Emergency Medical Personnel with the Interim Council, will entitle you to partake in the election of the five Emergency Medical Personnel to serve on the Emergency Medical Personnel Council, whether in terms of submitting a nomination, being a nominee, casting a vote and/ or being elected. Details of the elections process will be provided.
