What is the Flu?

Influenza is a serious illness and can be fatal. It has been responsible for outbreaks of pandemic proportions in the past. The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 500,000 people die from Influenza each year. In the Caribbean region, the scale of Influenza related hospitalizations and death is not accurately known, as diagnostic testing for the Influenza virus is not widely available. The Ministry of Health urges the public to get the flu vaccine to help keep themselves and their loved ones safe!
