Guide to visiting the National Prosthetics Centre

This guide provides practical information for regional patients travelling to Trinidad and Tobago to attend the National Prosthetics Centre (NPC) in Penal. It includes information on appointments, accommodation, transportation and other useful services to help make your visit easier and more comfortable.

Appointments & Referrals

Arrange your appointment first.

Submit your referral to the NPC before making any travel arrangements. You will be contacted directly regarding scheduling and advised on expected duration of stay.

Send your referral to the NPC.

Referrals should include patient name and contact information, medical history and cause of amputation, level of amputation, previous prosthetic history and any relevant medical conditions.

What to bring.

Travel light but prepared. Here is what patients are encouraged to bring when attending the National Prosthetics Centre.

Passport & Travel Documents

Bring all required identification and travel documents for your visit.

Medical Records

Bring any relevant medical reports, test results or treatment information that may assist the clinical team.

Current Medications

Bring a list of any medications you are currently taking, including dosage information where possible.

Comfortable Clothing

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access for assessment, fitting and adjustments.

Mobility Aid

If you currently use a cane, walker, crutches, wheelchair or other mobility aid, bring it with you.

Caregiver Support

Elderly patients or persons with limited mobility may benefit from travelling with a caregiver or support person.
