
Incidence, Mortality, and Trends
From 2003 to 2020, a total of 43,380 individuals were diagnosed with cancer, with a nearly even split of 49% male and 51% female patients. Most cases (97.9%) were in individuals over 25 years of age, and 39% fell within the 60–74 age range.
Among those diagnosed, 36.2% were Afro-Trinidadians, and 23% were Indo-Trinidadians. The leading cancers in men were prostate, colon and rectum, and bronchus and lung. Breast cancer was most common among women, followed by cancers of the uterus, and colon and rectum.
