Mental Health
Mental Health is a state of emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. Many factors such as stress, change and situations outside of our control can affect our mental health. As such, any person, at any age, can experience a mental health problem, that with the right support can be effectively managed. Mental illnesses, however, are diagnosable conditions that significantly affect someone’s ability to think, feel, relate with others and function in their daily life.

Insect Vector Control
There are several diseases that are transmitted by insects or other organisms in Trinidad and Tobago that are potentially hazardous to the health of citizens. Some of these diseases include dengue fever, malaria, yellow fever, West Nile virus, and hairy-moth infestation (causes allergic skin reactions and respiratory ailments). Insects, animals or other organisms that are capable of spreading disease to humans are called vectors.

Hansen's Disease Control Programme
Hansen's Disease
Hansen’s disease, commonly called leprosy, is a slightly infectious, chronic disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium leprae. This germ was discovered in Bergen, Norway in 1873 by Dr. Gerhard Armauer Hansen. The germ attacks mainly the skin, nerves and mucus membranes.

External Patient Programme
The External Patient Programme was established in 2014 and aims at ensuring quality and timely healthcare to all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago in partnership with the Regional Health Authorities through a Public Private Initiative.

Environmental Health
Core Function of the Environmental Health Unit
Environmental Health is responsible for the effective control and prevention of Environmental Health hazards. This Unit also provides surveillance and advocacy with a view towards giving expression to the role of Environmental health in the landscape and its importance in sustainable development. This service is offered to the General Public.

Dental Services
The mission of the Dental Services Division is to improve the oral health of all citizens by the provision of quality oral health care and to ensure that this is done in an acceptable, equitable, sustainable and cost effective manner.
Dental Services are provided at specified Health Centres throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Dental Services currently provided for children ages 2-12 years are fillings, cleaning, fluoride treatment and dental health education. For adults, only plain relief (tooth extraction) is provided.
